Madeleine Stanley-Jossem, internationally respected French artist, has received numerous awards, prizes in juried competitions, and was selected to exhibit her works of art in one-person shows throughout the United States and France. The breadth of her work is extensive in varied media: sculpture, enamel, painting, and sumi-e (Japanese brush stroke). Ms. Stanley-Jossem's art is in museums and private collections throughout the world. She is the author of numerous published articles and has been a frequent subject of television, radio, and newspaper interviews. A love for writing poetry began in early childhood and continued throughout her life, for she considered it an extension and valued companion to the creative ideas she was to execute in her chosen media. Ms. Stanley-Jossem was a student at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Strasbourg, studied at l'Ecole du Louvre in Paris, and attended The Art Students League of New York. She was a member of the faculty at The Memorial Art Gallery of The University of Rochester (NY), The Rochester Institute of Technology, and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, until her death in January, 2000. In 1996, the French Government awarded its highest civilian honor - Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres - to Ms. Stanley-Jossem for her expansive contribution to the world of art and literature.
